What You Need to Get Started

1

Production Quality

HippoPlace aims to create a virtuous cycle for online sales, built on a foundation of trust between producers and consumers. If you believe in the quality of your products and services, you can confidently proceed to the next step.
If you have any doubts, feel free to discuss them with us. Remember, handling a return not only leads to customer dissatisfaction but also incurs costs and negatively impacts the image of your business.
2

Product Origin

The value of controlling what is sold is fundamental. A safe, monitored, and guaranteed product will be an absolute asset for your customers. It’s a way to build their trust in you and the best method we can suggest to stay ahead of the competition.
If you are a producer, control is simpler, but if you are a merchant, ensuring the origin of your products so you can guarantee it is essential.
3

Operational Management

HippoPlace manages most operations in an automated manner, depending on the solution you choose to implement. However, some tasks will still be your responsibility, such as preparing packages for the courier, maintaining the digital inventory, updating price lists, or providing technical support for the products sold.
A portion of the operations will still require your involvement. If you choose to automate your instance via API, you can fully streamline your workflow. However, you will still need to handle the preparation of packages for the selected couriers.
4

Costs VS Benefits

HippoPlace has no start-up costs or maintenance costs, such as platform fees, software and functionality updates, hosting space, app fees, transaction fees, implementations, or other typical expenses associated with the development and maintenance of an e-commerce solution. Our economic model is based on an agreed-upon pricing structure and applies fees only on actual sales. Beyond this, there are no additional costs.

If you need supplementary services, such as photos, videos, specific advertising campaigns, or the creation and supply of packaging for shipments, as an Accredited Seller, you’ll benefit from truly advantageous discounts and benefits. For any information, contact us to discuss it with one of our Specialists.

5

Catalog

Managing your catalog is essential for presenting your products—the more detailed and accurate it is, the greater your chances of closing sales.

To learn how to manage your catalog effectively, you can follow the guidelines in our HIPPO TOOLKIT. It’s a practical tool to help you understand how to automate all update processes. Alternatively, contact us to discuss it with one of our specialists.

6

Inventory and Price List

Inventory and price lists are the two fundamental keys to managing online sales. They contain all the basic information needed to operate your instance effectively. Our team will support you throughout all phases of structuring and preparing both, providing guidance and helping you optimize your operations.
Both remain delicate aspects of daily management, for which we suggest: automating them through our APIs and organizing stock based on sales commitments.

To better understand how these two important functions work and implement the best strategy for your business, we recommend contacting us.

HippoPlace Economic Model

(HSM Version)

100
Sales Value
70
Incoming Seller
30
Fees HPL

The economic model of HippoPlace, in the HSM (Hippo Sales Managed) version, is based on:

Agreed Product Pricing

The price list is mutually agreed upon and designed to remain competitive in the market. It must therefore be exclusive and reserved for sales through HippoPlace.

Equal Participation in Promotions

HippoPlace independently manages B2C/B2B promotions based on criteria that include: market analysis, sales performance, product popularity, trends and user preferences, customer type, and destination country.

Each instance also includes marketing automation tools such as: e-quotes for B2B users, volume discounts, and RealTime offers.

For this reason, we ask Sellers to actively and equitably participate in promotions (public discounts on products sold).

Fixed Contributions Only on Sales

Within its fee, HippoPlace covers various management costs (both fixed and variable).

For this reason, we require Sellers to pay a fixed contribution of €0.25 + 1.5% of the total value of each finalized sale.

Progressive Fee Reductions

By collaborating with our team, progressive reductions on HPL fees are applied based on increased sales and reduced involvement from our staff in managing your HPLace

Startup and Maintenance Costs

(HSM Version)

100
Initial Value
0
Seller Costs
100
HPL Costs

Potential initial investments for sellers may include:

  • Internal logistical organization
  • Dedicated packaging based on the export country (depending on the type of product sold)
  • Drafting of technical documentation in compliance with national and international regulations
  • One-time costs for software integrations and various marketing and logistical materials

If these requirements are not applicable, startup and maintenance costs are zero.
HippoPlace can still support you in launching your Instance by offering the services you need at competitive prices.
